Description: |
I have always wanted to do a scene like this. This picture shows my unique interpretation on what skaven should look like. I represent them as not quite as mindless as the original depictions of skaven found in the official Warhammer guides and such. I give them a slightly better nature and definitely make them look more intelligent, even (or especially) the rat ogres. I always disliked the way they were depicted with weird buck teeth. I think it would be wiser to show them as a wiser barbarian than depicted classically so I end up giving them a sort of "Egyptian" motif. Sure they still wear a lot of bones, but I would like to pretend that Skaven are the type of creatures that usually do not pesture unless provoked. Instead of crazed monsters always eager to kill I think of something more similar to master splinter I guess, except with a stronger sense of vengeance. ... Anyways, this was done in tiny bits over the course of almost 2 months and then I came back to it after about a year. I made it clean so that I could eventually color it, but I want to develop my painter skills more before I color this.
